I Am a Hipster: the Campaign

The word "hipster" has become the universal insult. Those who aren't one despise being called one, and those who are one vehemently deny being one. It's become a taboo – and I hate taboos. Enter: I Am a Hipster: the Campaign. The premise is simple. Rather than going out of one's way to deny being a hipster, one readily declares himself/herself (or the group to whom they are talking) to be one(s) instead. A few examples:

"As a hipster, I really like listening to underground music on vinyl."
"We hipsters realize that this photography is aesthetically flat and uninteresting, and we could do better."
"Though I am a hipster, I like Mumford & Sons, even though they are popular and I shouldn't."
"My favorite place to grow my hipster wardrobe is Urban Outfitters."

You get the picture. Until we get a working time-traveling Delorean with which we can go back in time and prevent this whole hipster-denying phenomenon from happening, this should work in diffusing the whole situation. We can do it. We have the technology.

Take your choice of ways to end this blog:
- Today, we are all hipsters.
- I am a hipster, and so can you.
- Hipsters unite!
